You Turned To Me

Elvis Costello is singing this song in my ears. From his album 'North'. I'll take him with me on my trek to Greenmount Cemetery tomorrow when I head up to chat with my dead relatives. It's been awhile & I hope they missed me as much as I missed them. The referenced song is so sweet. I can't stop listening to it.

A dream

There are lots of juicy details to life at the homestead here. Most of them are neatly tucked away until the big REVEAL. In the meantime...I had a neat dream a few mornings ago. I have to run upstairs to check my notes to make sure I get the gist correct. Hold on a sec...
Ok, here's how the dream unfolded. I was at a corporate event during which a computer was to be given away. Every party goer was given one of those old school tear-off raffle tickets at the entrance to the party. When the time came to announce the winner, a big balloon sprang up in the air & floated up to the roof of the convention space thumping noisily to the ceiling. The balloon was enclosed in blue metallic wrapping embellished with gold stars. Attached was a box similarly wrapped but in red with stars. At the given time, the winning number was announced. I just happened to be near this middle-aged, red haired man who seemed to be sure he'd win this computer. The number was announced. His was one digit away from the winning number. When he realized his fate, tears formed in his eyes & the look on his face transformed from that of a wondrous child to a man in unimaginable grief. Never before had I seen such a transformation in such a short moment. He walked away and leaned on a nearby wall, defeated. I walked over to him & said not a word. Words weren't necessary just then. Muddy thoughts until the conclusion of the dream. Somehow I was able to produce a computer for him. He was happy & I walked away without exchanging names or anything else. I woke up happy.
